Description

Description

These high-end Brass or Copper Table Tops are designed for use in upscale homes, brasseries, cafes, restaurants, bars, wine cellars, and coffee shops. The thickness of our tops is an impressive 2″ as opposed to 1″ to 1 1/2″ which is industry standard. We are able to make rectangular table tops, without seams or joints, up to 96″ wide x 48″ deep, and round table tops up to 60″ diameter. These table tops are made of heavy duty (43 Mils or 1.25mm) copper or brass sheet which has been antiqued and distressed by a special process. The sheet metal is stretched over a robust steel frame and NOT cheap particle board or plywood as some manufacturers do. Rivet-head trim is available along the edge of the top as an optional extra. The underside of the table top is coated with sound deadening material. These exquisite table tops were designed by Shah Gilani, ASFD.

Copper and Brass are natural materials that develop a wonderful patina over time. Some patina is applied at the factory but there is no way of speeding up this natural process. When you first receive your metal table top, it will readily show all kinds of stains like finger marks and glass rings. But you need not be alarmed. These stains will go away as the copper or brass surface develops a rich patina and its color deepens. Once the copper or brass ages, and its patina becomes fully developed, the top surface will become more resistant to stains. Copper and brass topped tables are mostly used for casual dining, so stains left by hands, food, or glasses are usually not a major concern. The best thing is that stains on copper and brass are never permanent and go away with time. However, if such stains are undesirable, the copper or brass surface should be treated like any other piece of fine furniture and protected with coasters, trivets, place-mats, etc. Trying to clean finger marks, glass rings, or other stains with a commercial cleaner will take off the patina. The best way to clean copper or brass is with a damp cloth. Coating the surface with paste wax is helpful in resisting stains.
