The Scroll Side Chair was made by a master craftsman whose family has been hand-carving wood for generations. This exquisite chair is an excellent example of old world manufacturing techniques which are dying out as new generations move away from difficult to master professions. The scroll in art is an element of ornament and graphic design which loosely represents plant forms such as vines. Scroll decoration has been used for the decoration of a vast range of objects. Evolution over the last two millennia has taken forms of plant-based scroll decoration from Greco-Roman architecture to Chinese pottery. It is very widespread in architectural decoration, woodcarving, painted ceramics, and mosaics. Shah Gilani, ISFD, was inspired to design the Scroll Side Chair after viewing the ionic capitals of the Temple of Portunus in Rome. Constructed of rosewood, this chair is designed for use in upscale residential and hospitality interiors. This is a robust and finely made piece of furniture that will not disappoint. It is offered in a variety of finishes and accents. Upholstery is in COM. Seat cushion has 8-way hand-tied springs which will not sag even after decades of use. Four nylon glides are provided. Custom sizing is available. We ship worldwide and welcome international orders.
