Swag Bar Chair

Description

The back of the Swag Bar Chair was inspired by the swags in Roman decor which are ornamental designs of draped fabric, flowers, fruit, or foliage tied with ribbons that sags in the middle and attaches at both ends. Also called a festoon, the swag was a major decorative feature in classical Roman architecture and art. Traditional Roman carvings and friezes showed natural items like laurel leaves, oak branches, grapes, and flowers. Swags also imitated soft, folded cloth and linens hanging between pillars, altars, or walls. The drooping ends of a swag were often fastened with carved ribbons, bows, or rosettes. Since ancient times, plaster, wood, or marble swags are placed over doorways, fireplaces, mantels, and walls. Shah Gilani, ISFD, used a carved wood swag to serve as the back of his Swag Bar Chair. This unique Bar Chair with a seat height of 30″ is also available as a Counter Chair with a seat height of 24″. It is entirely hand-crafted in the finest rosewood with a hand-carved swag which mimics draped fabric. Custom sizing is available.

We are able to design and manufacture bar furniture ranging in style from traditional through art nouveau and art deco, to modern and contemporary. One of the special services we offer is the ability to customize our product to fit the client’s specification. Drawings are made and finish samples prepared for client approval.
