Acanthus Console

Description

Architecture of ancient Rome where the acanthus ornament appears extensively in the capitals of the Corinthian order were the source of inspiration for the Acanthus Console. The symbolism and meaning associated with the acanthus is that of enduring life. Acanthus symbolizes immortality and rebirth in Mediterranean countries. In architecture and decorative arts it has been used in its stylized form based on the Mediterranean plant with jagged leaves. It was first used by the Greeks in the 5th century BC on temple roof ornaments, on wall friezes, and on the capital of the Corinthian column. Later, the Romans used the acanthus leaf in an elaborate capital style called Composite.

The Acanthus Console was designed by Shah Gilani, ISFD. With its timeless elegance, it makes an exceptional console table for upscale residential and hospitality interiors. Robust construction allows the base to support a heavy stone top without shaking. The table base is offered in a variety of finishes and accents. The cast stone top can be made in various colors. Custom sizing is available.

Ours is an artisanal product made in a traditional and non-mechanized way. We are able to design and manufacture consoles ranging in style from traditional through art nouveau and art deco, to modern and contemporary. One of the special services we offer is the ability to customize our product to fit the client’s specification. Drawings are made and finish samples prepared for client approval.
