The Italian Renaissance was the earliest manifestation of the general European Renaissance, a period of great cultural change and achievement that began in Italy during the 14th century and lasted until the 17th century. During the early years of the 16th century the Kingdom of France was involved in wars in northern Italy. That brought back to France not just the Renaissance art treasures, but also stylistic ideas. The earliest example of Renaissance architecture in France is the Loire valley chateau at Amboise, which King Charles VIII began to rebuild in the “Italian manner” employing the Italian architect Domenico da Cortona. The design of Orleans Hurricane Wall Light is based on French Renaissance artifacts. This exquisite luminaire is offered in a variety of finishes and accents. Superb attention to detail is evident from the brass rim on the hand-made seeded glass hurricane shade. The simulated candle is appropriately distressed and antiqued. The Orleans Hurricane Wall Light was designed by Shah Gilani, ISFD. Custom sizing is available.
