Parisian Side Table

Description

The design of the Parisian Side Table was inspired by the work of Gilbert Poillerat who was one of the most renowned French ironworker and furniture designer of the 20th century. Graduating from the prestigious École Boulle in 1921, he revolutionized the art of ornamental ironwork. He mastered the art of infusing his metal furniture designs with a sense of lightness, movement, and fluid energy. Over his prolific career, his aesthetic transitioned from traditional Art Deco into a dramatic Neo-Baroque style under the influence of avant-garde artists. Shah Gilani, ISFD, was influenced by one of his side table designs and adapted it for production in his studio. The base of the table is made by a casting process. Molten metal is poured to a mold that can be used only once. The rough casting is cleaned and smoothed by a master craftsman. This is a long and laborious process requiring great attention to detail. The table base is available in a variety of hand-applied multi-layer finishes. The parquetry wood top is hand-crafted of the finest rosewood. Parquetry is a traditional woodworking technique that arranges small wooden pieces into a geometric pattern.

Ours is an artisanal product made in a traditional and non-mechanized way. We are able to design and manufacture side tables and lamp tables ranging in style from traditional through art nouveau and art deco, to modern and contemporary. One of the special services we offer is the ability to customize our product to fit the client’s specification. Drawings are made and finish samples prepared for client approval. Custom work is our specialty.
