Copper or Brass Log Side Table

Description

Copper or Brass Log Side Table was inspired by a tree trunk in its natural raw form. It is constructed by first fabricating a steel framework over which heavy 18 gauge copper or brass sheet is stretched by a master metalsmith. This is a long and laborious process requiring repeated hammering followed by heating with a blow torch. The seams are welded together in such a way that they are not at all discernable. The resulting piece looks like a solid mass of copper or brass. The sheet metal is lightly distressed and patinated for a mellow appearance. Each piece is crafted entirely by hand, so no two tables are alike. Shah Gilani, ISFD, designed this robust table for use in eclectic residential and hospitality interiors. It can also be made as a dining table base, or a coffee table. We can either apply a sealant to the finished product to keep it from tarnishing or leave off the sealant and let the raw surface keep developing a patina. The Copper or Brass Log Side Table, which is more like an exquisite sculpture, would make an interesting conversation piece in a rustic lodge or a country house. Custom sizing is available.
