Sparrows Coffee Table

Description

The design of the Sparrows Coffee Table was inspired by the work of Diego Giacometti (1902-1985). Diego was a Swiss sculptor and furniture designer, and the younger brother of sculptor Alberto Giacometti. After business studies in Basel and Saint-Gall, he followed the advice of his mother Annetta and went to Paris to join his brother Alberto, then a student of the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle at the Academy of the Grande Chaumière. The working relationship of Diego with Alberto was so close that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish the work of Diego from that of Alberto. Diego often adorned his furniture with animal sculptures. Perhaps he was deeply influenced by his upbringing on the family farm in the rugged alpine region of Bregaglia in Switzerland. The structural components of his furniture had a wonderfully organic surface texture which has been reproduced on the Sparrows Coffee Table. This is an exceptional cocktail table designed for use in high-end residential and hospitality interiors. Robust metal construction allows the base to support a heavy glass top without flexing. Four polished bronze glides are provided which also serve as levelers – a useful feature to have when the floor is uneven. The table base is offered in a variety of finishes. Custom sizing is available.

Ours is an artisanal product made in a traditional and non-mechanized way. We are able to design and manufacture coffee tables ranging in style from traditional through art nouveau and art deco, to modern and contemporary. One of the special services we offer is the ability to customize our product to fit the client’s specification. Drawings are made and finish samples prepared for client approval. Custom work is our specialty.
