Lion Bench

Description

The Lion Bench was inspired by furniture of the Regency Period. In 1811, Prince George, the Prince of Wales assumed rule of the country, not as a king, but rather as an acting monarch while his father suffered a long bout of mental illness. His official title during this time was Regent, hence the name “Regency Period.” During his rule he influenced aesthetics and artistic taste, especially in furniture and objet d’art which he commissioned in abundance. Unlike furniture designers of prior periods who borrowed elements from Roman and Greek art, those of the Regency Period tried to recreate the actual furniture pieces found in museums, in vaults, and on artwork. Ornamentation was used sparingly for its elegance rather than for excess, as in carvings and overly curved lines exhibited in earlier periods. Regency furniture pieces generally exhibited plain lines and surfaces with slender legs. This helped bring attention to and highlight the ornamentation with minimal distraction. Shah Gilani, ISFD, designed his Lion Bench with the foregoing in view. This timeless piece of furniture is available in a variety of finishes. Accents are solid bronze. Upholstery in in COM. Custom sizing is available.

We are able to design and manufacture seating ranging in style from traditional through art nouveau and art deco, to modern and contemporary. One of the special services we offer is the ability to customize our product to fit the client’s specification. Drawings are made and finish samples prepared for client approval.
