Palm Trees Accent Chair

The Palm Trees Accent Chair was designed with a very high back for use in areas with high ceilings where a tall accent piece may be needed. Examples of such applications are entryways or living areas of buildings where high accent pieces are needed on either side of a console table or a fireplace for instance. With its palm trees back, this chair exudes a relaxed mood which would be ideal for a high-end residential or hospitality interior.

Throughout history palm trees have had many symbolic meanings including peace, victory, prosperity, and immortality. They have represented concepts such as prosperity, beauty, spirituality, resilience, and tropical allure. Palm trees are known for their ability to withstand harsh conditions, such as storms and high winds. This resilience makes them a symbol of strength, endurance, and the ability to stand tall through life’s challenges. The gentle sway of palm fronds in the breeze is often seen as a dance of peace and calm. In many spiritual contexts the palm tree represents a soothing presence, offering a sense of tranquility and benevolence. In some cultures, the palm tree is a symbol of fertility and life. Its ability to produce fruit, like dates or coconuts, in harsh environments, represents vitality and the sustenance of life. The tall stature of the palm tree, reaching towards the sky, symbolizes aspiration, ambition, and the pursuit of one’s dreams. It encourages one to aim high and strive for greater achievements. For the ancient Egyptians the palm tree was a symbol of immortality and renewal. It often featured in tomb decorations and burial practices, symbolizing eternal life. In ancient Greek culture, the palm tree was associated with the god Apollo, who was born on the island of Delos beneath a palm tree. The tree became a symbol of victory, often awarded to athletes competing in the Olympic Games. Similarly, in Roman culture, the palm was linked to triumph. Victorious generals returning from battle were celebrated with parades where they were adorned with palm fronds.

With the forgoing in view, S. Shah Gilani, ISFD, designed the Palm Trees Accent Chair, which is entirely handmade and hand-carved. It is offered in a variety of hand-applied finishes. The seat cushion has 8-way hand-tied springs which will not sag even after decades of use. Upholstery is in COM. Custom sizing is available.
