Lion Arm Chair

Description

Design of the Lion Arm Chair was inspired by the work of Diego Giacometti (1802-1985). Diego was a Swiss sculptor and furniture designer, and the younger brother of sculptor Alberto Giacometti. After completing his business studies in Basel and Saint Gall, he was unsure of his professional path. At the age of 25, he followed the advice of his mother, Annetta, and moved to Paris to join his older brother Alberto. This move proved to be the turning point of his life. Diego became Alberto’s indispensable collaborator and technical assistant for over 40 years, while also establishing himself as a significant artist in his own right, particularly known for his distinctive bronze furniture.

The Lion Arm Chair is entirely handmade of steel. The lion head and feet are solid bronze castings. The seat cushion has 8-way hand-tied springs which will not sag even after decades of use. Standard upholstery material is black, brown, or cream leather. We also offer upholstery in COM. Robust metal construction allows the chair to support heavy loads without flexing. With its timeless elegance, the Lion Arm Chair is designed for use in high-end residential and hospitality interiors. It is offered in a variety of finishes. Custom sizing is available.

Ours is an artisanal product made in a traditional and non-mechanized way. We are able to design and manufacture seating ranging in style from traditional through art nouveau and art deco, to modern and contemporary. One of the special services we offer is the ability to customize our product to fit the client’s specification. Drawings are made and finish samples prepared for client approval. Custom work is our specialty.
